1. 1984, by George Orwell 42%
I read this one after graduating from college, but I much prefer Orwell's essays, which I read a lot of during college. 1984 was just a tad too dry for me, like an old black and white film.
2. War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy 31%
Started it but didn't finish. Wonder if I should go back and read it?
3. Ulysses, by James Joyce 25%
Never have and probably never will. Not convinced it's worth the effort.
4. The Bible 24%
Yes, most of it, in the modern English version. Reading it really made me think about why on earth do we believe in this stuff.
5. Madame Bovary, by Gustave Flaubert 16%
Read it in college and liked it. It was part of my study of feminism at the time.
6. A Brief History of Time, by Stephen Hawking 15%
Started it but couldn't finish. Maybe I'll try again.
7. Midnight's Children, by Salman Rushdie 14%
Stopped after the first few chapters. Just didn't get it.
8. In Remembrance of Things Past, by Marcel Proust 9%
Haven't and probably never will. Is there a reason why I should?
9. Dreams from My Father, by Barack Obama 6%
Yes, read it when it first came out; when Obama was not even senator back then. Read it also when I was reading other memoirs.
10. The Selfish Gene, by Richard Dawkins 6%
Made through the first three chapters, but I plan to go back and finish it.
